The Land Transport Authority has appointed Karam Chand Bidesi as it's general manager finance and audit.
Bidesi recently retired from the Ministry of Finance and is a close ally of Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
Coupfourpointfive has been told that Bidesi's appointment is an indication that Chaudhry still has influence on the interim regime even after his forced exit 14 months ago.
Sources say during Chaudhry's term as interim Finance minister, Bidesi helped organise under the table deals for Chaudhry from certain businessmen facing tax scrutiny.
Coupfourpointfive has been given the names of three of these businessmen involved in tax evasion.
One of them was reported by Fiji's media two years ago for owing the Fiji Development Bank millions of dollars but was rescinded within a week upon Chaudhry's orders.
The names will be exposed later this week once we've carried out our own investigation.
